Day 32: Psalm 32- Kicking and Screaming or Surrendering? You Decide!

Dear Friend,
Psalm 32 encourages me because my sins are covered and my transgressions are forgiven (vv1 & 5) and that God surrounds me songs of deliverance (v7).  God offers this benefit graciously to whosever will. God is looking for people to embrace what He has for them. After all if you read Psalm 32, you will see all of the rewards there are for walking with the Lord. If this is explained to nonbelievers and backslidden ones, the plan of God is simple to see.  There is no forcing someone to forgive or into the state of forgiveness. Is there?
I never hear of anyone kicking or screaming their way to forgiveness. Praise God that He does not count our sins against us and salvation is free (v2).  When we do not confess sin or we hold onto it, such as grudges, living in sin, unforgiveness, etc, God’s “hand” (v4) can feel heavy upon us. Once we give it up or surrender it, the guilt and shame is gone too (v5).  God does not want us to be like a mule and need a kick in the pants to get going in the right direction, He wants us to be teachable, leadable, and guidable (vv 8& 9).  Is this desire for God’s best or ours? Certainly, it is for ours and His. It’s easier to go and do something in our best interest if we are not kicking and screaming.
I am passionate about Psalm 32:7, “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” If God surrounds us with songs of deliverance, that means that He is with us and that deliverance is coming. Notice this is much farther down in this Psalm (v7). God will help us in trouble, but the most important thing is that you are surrounded by God in it. You will come out of this storm; God’s songs of deliverance are your breakthrough! Look at the photo I posted. I  can take a shell far away from the ocean, but the shell will keep uttering the oceans sound. God is singing your song of deliverance right now. Can you hear it?

Psalm 32 -New International Version (NIV)

Blessed is the one
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one
    whose sin the Lord does not count against them
    and in whose spirit is no deceit.
When I kept silent,     my bones wasted away
    through my groaning all day long.
For day and night
    your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped
    as in the heat of summer.[b]
Then I acknowledged my sin to you
    and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
    my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave
    the guilt of my sin.
Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
    while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
    will not reach them.
You are my hiding place;     you will protect me from trouble
    and surround me with songs of deliverance.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
    which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
    or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,     but the Lord’s unfailing love
    surrounds the one who trusts in him.
11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
    sing, all you who are upright in heart!
